Below are some of the summer camps offered locally.  CYLAX does not endorse any camp over another and merely provides these to help our parents and players realize that there are a LOT of choices and opportunities to continue to learn the great sport of lacrosse:

2nd Annual FLN Technical and Tactical Lacrosse Clinic @ Dean College July 8-11 9:00am - 3:00pm for boys going into Grades 2-8.

Our Tri-Directors

Our clinic Tri-Directors bring a variety of lacrosse experiences for the instruction of players. Please visit FLN - Our Staff for Complete Bios.

Scott Carpenter - Boys Head Lacrosse at Cumberland High School, Cumberland, RI

Brien Keller - Director Franklin Lacrosse Network

Matt Schairer - Mens Head Lacrosse Coach at Dean College, Franklin, MA

Our Clinic Philosophy

Our teaching of lacrosse comes from best practice and providing an environment for kids to learn from the game and have fun.

We emphasize a “learn by doing” approach through modeling a skill and providing time for players to replicate it in a realistic setting.

Players are also "engaged in creative small-sided games" where they can demonstrate learned skills in a fun setting.

We provide a structure where players are given multiple opportunities to "think tactically" based upon what an opponent decides.

Instruction

Our Clinic has a low Player to Coach Ratio. We will keep our ratio to 8-1.

Evaluation

At the end of the week your child will receive an evaluation sheet with links to videos to help further improve play.

Daily Schedule

Our daily schedule will include a variety of lacrosse training and related experiences for our players. We will provide multiple opportunities and diverse activities to ensure that kids will have fun while improving in the game of lacrosse.

Technical Skills

Our training will focus on ability level instruction in the following areas.

Throwing/Catching, Cradling, Dodging, Face-Offs, Ground Balls, Individual Defense, Shooting, and Stick Improvement.

Tactical Skills

Team Defensive Shape

Transition from (Off.-Def.) / (Def.-Off.)

Team Offensive Spacing

Small-Sided Games

We believe in games that involve fewer players on each side. This environment allows for players who are more connected to the play. It also allows for a higher frequency of individual technical and tactical involvement.

Learning without Helmets

We know that having a lacrosse helmet on all day in the summer heat is not optimal.

Players will get an opportunity to participate in games that do not involve lacrosse equipment but reinforce technical and tactical skills learned.

Additionally kids will spend some time in an air-conditioned classroom to learn in an interactive way of how to improve targeted skills.
